WELCOME TO ESTRANGED PEOPLE MINISTRIE
There are many Jewish people still in Ethiopia. The Jewish people of Ethiopia have experienced extreme prejudice for a very long time. Although the prejudice is no longer “legal” and enforced by the government, it is still carried on by the people themselves. This prejudice has made it very hard for the Jewish people there to progress and has kept most of them in poverty. One of several trades that the Ethiopian Jews have is that of handcrafting. In the summer of 2008, Teresa and John McKessey went to Ethiopia at the invitation of their friend Louise who lives there most of the year ministering to the Jewish people. Prior to the trip, a web site was started to facilitate the sales of the Ethiopian Jewish handcrafts. While there they were able to provide much needed childrens’ clothes to the Bete Israel community in Addis Ababa where they stayed, assisted in completing a Project Proposal that would assist the displaced Jewish people in Addis (who moved there from the country in hopes of making Alliyah to Israel, but have not yet been granted visas), buy and take on consignment many handcrafted items to sell on the web site and other places and make some wonderful friends. The sales of the products on this web site have increased the flow of money into the poverty stricken society of teh Jewish people of Addis Ababa. We hope that you will want to join in this cause, while also receiving the incredibly beautiful handcrafted items found here. Every item on this web site has been made by hand by an individual of the Ethiopian Jewish community! We hope that you will enjoy these beautiful products as well as the satisfaction of helping others.”
